Portmore United midfielder Ricardo Cousins last Wednesday signed a two year contract with Division 1 club FC Vasby in Sweden.

Cousins won three premier league titles with Portmore United as well as two Champions Cup, two U21 Championships and five Happy
Sutherland KO Championships during his time with the St Catherine club.
He was obviously elated to have realised one of his lifelong ambitions.

"This is a dream come through for me. I've always wanted to pursue a professional career in Europe and have worked very hard over the years towards this goal. Portmore United has prepared me well and I'm confident in my ability to make a success of this opportunity," Cousins said.

    proud about contract
Cousins, who joins former Harbour View and national U20 goalkeeper, Ryan Thompson, at FC Vasby, played on the 2004 triple championship winning Glenmuir High school team, that won the DaCosta Cup, Ben Francis KO and Olivier Shield titles.

He served as captain of Jamaica's U20 team that won the silver medal at the 2007 Pan American games in football. He has also played at U17 and U23 levels for Jamaica.

Portmore's general manager Clive Marshall said, "We at Portmore United are indeed proud that Ricardo has secured this contract. He gave great service to the club and was an outstanding captain and player for us. Indeed we are confident that he will represent himself, club and country with distinction."

"This is what we prepare our players for and is part of the broader developmental and economic strategies of our club," Marshall added.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
