Pep Segura, Liverpool’s youth academy’s Technical Manager has quit his position at the club, citing that he wants to spend more time with his family in Spain.
However, the Liverpool Echo today report that Segura was frustrated with the club’s decision not to promote him when the managerial overhaul happened this summer.
Following the sacking of Kenny Dalglish and departure of coach Steve Clarke from first team duties, Segura had looked set to be promoted to work alongside new boss Brendan Rodgers.
However, part of Rodgers’ terms to become the new boss at Liverpool was that he would retain control over all matters football at Anfield – and Segura wasn’t offered a promotion.
The Echo report,
The search for his successor will begin shortly but in the short term Segura’s sudden departure shouldn’t have any great impact as the Academy will continue to follow the programme he put in place.
Segura had been at Liverpool since 2009 and has worked at clubs including Barcelona and Olympiakos.

although it is not major news it still cannot be discounted in the bigger scheme of things. Ever since Benitez was sacked there is been a slow removal of the spanish guard at the club. Which isnt a problem if your hodgson or dalglish but slightly bizarre when your stated policy is to implement the barcelona system?
2 decions that LFC fans will rue is Moore's decision to sell to the yanks for a couple of million extra in his coffers and the sacking of Benitez. We have gone from a team that despite restrictions on funds competed well in the league and the CL. Rafa competed well with the likes of Wenger to bring in true international class european and international talent to the club.
Hodgson, dalglish and Rodgers so far seem hell bent on expensive local talent and within 4 years we have become a club whose target was the league to a team who wanted top 4 and now to a team who will strive for just respectability.
How many of us mocked the carling cup, probably me included but i think we'll be lucky if we get that this season.

I guess he just can't agree with Rodger request to play youth in 4-3-3 system.
FFS we are having free fall, and have been breaking bad records and records back up to 30 years. Rogers surely is a decent manager, but unless he turn out to be a master class anytime soon... we won't be able to escape this cycle.

I think whoever said this has no idea what they are talking about. He will be sorely missed. Good luck to him and to us in replacing him.

This is what happens when you appoint a small time manager with no credibility... FSG continue to bumble and stumble their way through things... this is going be an ugly season.. and lets stop right now ANY mention of top 4.. this roster and this manager have zero chance of it...

another fan jumping on the band wagon. well i say fan who no's??? granted i think he made some poor selections yesterday. he can't help it we didn't take our chances when on top. then we gave away 2 stupid pens. i'm backing him to get i right. top 6 is all i expect this season then after 3 seasons top 4. knowing him and with the players we have it will happen way before 3 years. if you put fowler in this team i think we could even finish in top 2. thats all this team is missing, some1 to finish things off. the more pressure you kind of fans and the press put on brendan and the team the longer it will take. grow up and back your team/manager! as for fsg i'm sure they saved our club!!! remember that???
