Tottenham have signed Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City.
The striker spent last season on loan at White Hart Lane and both parties were keen to make the arrangement permanent.
It had been feared the transfer, for a fee reported to be around £6million, may break down over personal terms.
Bring it on: Emmanuel Adebayor has secured a permanent move to Spurs
Adebayor was on £170,000 a week at the Etihad Stadium but has accepted a wage cut to head back to north London.
Spurs said on their official Twitter account: 'We are delighted to announce that we have completed the transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City.'
The 28-year-old forward scored 18 goals for Spurs last season, winning over the Spurs faithful as a former Arsenal player.
Adebayor also took to Twitter on Wednesday evening to say: 'I'm back. Tottenham here I come. I'm hungry for goals...Get ready.'
Arsenal old boy: Adebayor won over Spurs fans with 18 goals last season
The Togolese star signed for the Gunners in 2006 before moving to City two-and-a-half years later.
He had a loan spell with Real Madrid before joining Spurs in September 2011.
He added: 'I am pleased to be signing for Spurs on a permanent basis after finally agreeing my departure with Manchester City.
'It may have taken longer than expected but I am delighted to be back at Tottenham Hotspur.
'I really enjoyed my time here last season and I am hoping we can achieve great things together again.'
Two's company: Jermain Defoe (centre right) has a strike partner at last
Adebayor's arrival should end Spurs' search for a new centre-forward, with Jermain Defoe their only recognised out-and-out senior striker in Saturday's Premier League opening-day defeat at Newcastle.
But it is unlikely to herald the end of their summer transfer business, with QPR having made a bid for Michael Dawson this afternoon, hot on the heels of fellow defender Sebastien Bassong's move to Norwich.
There are also reports Tom Huddlestone, Jermaine Jenas, David Bentley and Giovani dos Santos could find themselves surplus to requirements under new manager Andre Villas-Boas.
