Former national striker and Waterhouse Football Club stalwart, Kevin Lamey, has earned himself a loan move to Malaysian Second Division club, Kuala Lumpur Soccer Club.

The 31-year-old joined up with the club in early March after about three weeks in the country and will remain there until the end of May when the contract expires.

    Not getting real benefits

"At this point in time we are not getting any real benefit for this deal. It is more for the player to get him some exposure and to give him an opportunity to earn," said Felix Porter, general secretary of Waterhouse FC.

The club, Porter said, will benefit if Lamey can secure a permanent contract.

"We will be in a position to earn some money if we can get him transferred. If he impresses then they may decide to secure a permanent deal.

"Based on the reports that we have had, he is doing well. He has so far scored three goals from four games which is a good strike rate," Porter added.

Despite leaving without the consent of the club, Porter said fences have now been mended.

"He has the blessings of the club and if he does not secure a permanent deal there he will return to us. In the over 10 years that he has been with us, he has been a loyal servant of the club. In every year that he has played for us since the 1996-1997, he has been our leading scorer," noted Porter.

Lamey, who has had five caps for the national team, the last three of which came in the Digicel Cup qualifiers last year, previously played in the U.S. A League.
