Depending on the version of windows you're using (I think) just hold down the ALT key and then type "156" i.e. ALT + 156 and it might work for you. Using the "ALT" key and any number will give you a variety of letters and symbols... I only found the "£" by checking... it doesn't seem to work with the numbers across the top of the keyboard but with the number pad on the side... so depending on your laptop that may also be an obstacle.
