Warnock keen on Austin
Brann midfielder out of contract at the end of the year
Last Updated: July 13, 2012 4:33pm Rodolph Austin: Brann midfielder and Jamaica international is a target for Leeds United
Neil Warnock has confirmed his interest in Rodolph Austin amid reports Leeds United have made a bid for the Jamaica international.
Leeds boss Warnock has been a long-term admirer of Austin and took the Brann midfielder on trial during his time at Queens Park Rangers.
Reports in Norway have claimed that the Championship club have seen a bid in the region of £200,000 rejected, with Austin out of contract at the end of the year.
Warnock says the 27-year-old, who has been capped 45 times by Jamaica, has previously cost too much money and is keeping tabs on the situation.
He told the Yorkshire Post: "He's a player I had at QPR. I had him over for a week and he's a smashing lad.
"I've always liked him, but it's always been a bit too much money.
"The last time I spoke to them, it was around the £2m mark. But his contract runs out in December and he's one that we are looking at as well as several others."
Warnock is in the market for midfield reinforcements after recently selling Adam Clayton to local rivals Huddersfield Town.
