U.S. forward Terrence Boyd joins Rapid Vienna

United States forward Terrence Boyd is joining Austrian club Rapid Vienna from Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga champion says the 21-year-old Boyd has agreed to a three-year deal with Vienna. It did not give details about the transfer fee.

Boyd scored 20 goals and set up five more for Dortmund's reserve team after coming from Hertha Berlin's second team last year.

That guy has the first touch of Alan Gordon. Not sure if it was stage fright, but he looked completely out of place in the qualifiers. Looked much better against the Juniors, which is natural at his age.

Saw Boyd play a few weeks ago. He has very good form. He is going to do very well.

I actually thought he would have gotten the starting spot over Gomez.

Wished he was acquired by a more 'visible' league...but time will tell.

HL don't you think it's high time Klinsy start seeking real talent from the metro area? Afterall these immigrant and sons of immigrants (S.americans, Central americans, West Indians, and Africans) do play in the travel tourneys around the area but for some reason aren't seen at certain level.

With regards to those that play Brasil; NO TALENT. Brasil has sent a weak team (the first in a long while) and those boys could not take advantage.
Donovan, Dempsey et al are aging; these guys won't have an impact come 2014.

                Very good point King:

Talent often-times rise to the top King Jawge.

Soccer organization the US (unfortunately) does not include the group you mentioned. It is for the most part done through the school system....from kindergarten to college That's how Tim Howard, Donavan and all others got seen?

Sounds like an opportunity exists for a Scouting bizniz Jawge.

OH BTW, I recall MetroStars used to have open-days for 'outsiders' who thought that had the skills to Join the MLS. Don't know if that program is still intact.

Boyd's first bicycle attempt just seconds before scoring with the second one:

Boyd scores brace in Rapid debut

Newcomer Terrence Boyd had a breakout performance in his regular season debut on Saturday, netting two goals for Rapid in a four-goal rout of Wacker Innsbruck.

The 21-year old produced a pair of bookend goals when he opened the scoring in the 4th minute and adding another in the 71st.

Boyd kicked off Rapid's season in style with a sliding strike just in front of the box. Former Wacker midfielder Muhammed Ildiz started off the attack with a perfect midfield pass down the left side for Christopher Drazan, who swung into the box for Boyd to smash home the opener past Szabolcs Safar in front the Rapid faithful.
