<DIV id=Articolo_ei1_p1><SPAN class=titolo>Adebayor Handed Additional Ban &amp; Fine</SPAN> </DIV><DIV></DIV><DIV><DIV id=Articolo_ei1_p2><SPAN class=titolo></SPAN></DIV><DIV><SPAN class=sommario>Arsenal's miserable fortnight continues with the news that Emmanuel Adebayor has been banned for an additional game and fined £7,500 for his reaction after being sent off in the Carling Cup final.</SPAN></DIV></DIV>

The Togolese striker had to be dragged off the pitch by physio Gary Lewin after protesting about his dismissal for allegedly throwing a punch at Chelsea's Frank Lampard - something both Adebayor and Lampard denied.

However, despite the player's appeal against the decision to send him off, the Football Association found him guilty of "reacting aggressively and failing to leave the field of play immediately."

Adebayor, 23, was banned for three games for the initial offence, and has already missed the FA Cup replay against Blackburn and the Premiership match against Reading as a result, and is due to sit out the League gme against Aston Villa.

Now he will also miss the League game with Everton.

A statement from the FA read: "In sentencing, the commission stated that it had taken into account Adebayor's playing record and the mitigation offered.

"Adebayor is currently serving a three-match suspension following his sending-off during the match.

"This additional suspension will come into effect after those three games have been completed."

Arsenal have meanwhile admitted a charge of failing to control their players and/or officials.

Chelsea have already admitted the same charge and both clubs have requested personal hearings.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has also responded to an invitation from the FA to explain comments he made about one of the assistant referees in the Carling Cup final and about the FA's disciplinary procedures.

Wenger's response will now be considered by the FA.

The additional ban for Adebayor follows hot on the heels of news that talismanic captain Thierry Henry is ruled out for the rest of the season with groin and stomach injuries. That blow followed Arsenal's elimination from three cup competitions in the space of 11 days and their loss of a clutch of other players (including Tomas Rosicky, Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Eboue) to injury.

Punished for not leaving the field immediately?

    Yes!

...but, the bans for violent conduct?

    Totally not fair!

Let me get this out of the way - Did I say King should not have been punished?

          No!

I will now say his punishment should have been of the nature of that given to Euell and Campbell-Ryce.

Those wholocked King and the others out of their rooms should also have been punished.

Those who gave two towels...less than at least one towel per person to the players should be punished.

Those who caused the team to be late to the grounds should be punished.

Those who cannot give an account of the movement of funds (receipts &amp; expenditure) during the tour sould be punished.

There are many who should be punished who are walking around scots free.

BTW - Did King initiate any disturbance on any field of play...or, anywhere for that matter?

There are those who initiated the disturbance who should be punished.

...and, you are right, King should have left the presence of the aggressors immediately. The behaviour of those aggressors was not worth remaining in their presence.
