...seems the stadium pitch is used for everything including football.

Normally after the first half...there should be a crew with little forks a dig-up dig-up and flatten out rough divots and patched.

Playing on a bouncy field is like playing with an under-inflated ball.

I think an artificial surface should be strongly considered.

The field should be designed with a separate section covering the running track, widening the pitch.

When there is a track meet, pull up the turf that covers the track, install the inside curbs, and away you go.
