Ok Zeppo, since I am making this up, here is an article I just googled on this issue, came up on the first page.

This is simple stuff just open your eyes and you will see it, somehow us ball has managed to make the most open, non class based sport in every country in the world into a class based, closed to the masses sport, that if you want your kid to play seriously you better be prepared to spend a ton of money, a ton of time and get ready to feel marginalized if your youth is not a star on every level.

Well this issue is staring them square in the face and is basically the greed of the coaches that has created this issue from how I see it.
