Shanghai Shenhua confident of signing Drogba

Shanghai Shenhua owner Zhu Jun says talks with striker Didier Drogba over a proposed move are progressing 'as planned'.

The Ivory Coast international announced his intention to depart Chelsea on Tuesday, having secured Champions League glory with his last kick for the club.

Speculation as to where the striker's future lies has been rife, though he is now widely expected to link up with former Chelsea team-mate Nicolas Anelka at Shanghai.

"As of now, Shenhua's negotiations with Drogba are continuing just as planned," Zhu told the Oriental Sports Daily.

Drogba leaves Chelsea with a cult status amongst the club's fans, and an astonishing goalscoring record, especially in cup finals.

The Ivorian scored 157 goals in 341 appearances for the club over eight years, a spell which saw him become the first ever African player to score 100 goals in the English Premier League.

I think Leyton Orient should send in a bid....

These chinese teams have big money. The gate receipts Drogba would draw will make them have to build bigger stadium.....
The only time TRUTH will hurt you...is if you ignore it long enough
