Hertha Berlin, who lost the Bundesliga 1 relegation playoff to Bundesliga 2 club Fortuna Dusseldorf 4-3 on aggregate (1-2 home; 2-2 away) has appealed their relegation to the German FA. (DFB) DFB will hear the case on Friday.
In the second leg at Dusseldorf, Hertha Berlin scored in the 85th minute to tie the game at 2-2. If Hertha Berlin had been able to score another goal in the final five minutes, they would have won the playoff on away goals.
Shortly afterward, and before the final whistle, Dusseldorf fans stormed the pitch.
The referee stopped the game, and after about 20 minutes, the game was resumed with seven minutes of injury time added on.
Hertha Berlin is seeking a replay of the game.
