National Under 20 striker Lester Peltier, who made headlines on the week for earning a call for trial at English giants Arsenal, has gone to Cardiff City on trial and played his first closed doors match for the club yesterday.

Terry Fenwick, coach of CL Financial San Jabloteh, the man responsible for sending Peltier and Jason Marcano to Millwal on trials, said Cardiff also had a look at Peltier and decided they wanted him there.

And they seem the most willing to offer Peltier a deal and have also started negotiations on a move.

"They want him and it will be fair play to say that we couldn't hold the lad from going there because Cardiff are the first to already start negotiations with Jabloteh," Fenwick admitted to TTFF Media on Sunday evening.

But Marcano who is suffering from a groin strain is with Peltier at Cardiff only as company as he is unable to train. And Peltier is still carded to go to Arsenal by mid-week.

"Arsenal is a big club and even though there is already a chance of a deal at Cardiff, Jabloteh have decided that the lad will still go to Arsenal because we already said to Liam Brady that they will have the player for a few days."

Cardiff are currently eighth on the Championship Division table (March 5, 2007)

Isnt there a 70% participation in senior national team games within the last 2 years requitrement for signing with UK clubs? unless this youth is blessed with superior talent!

RF there is a player from the US named Johan smith and he was signed to bolton his parents are jamaican ..... Jones got a 2 year student visa this kid just turned 18 so he has time on his side....

so is he trying to obtain a student visa to play professional football in the UK or is he trying to get into the Cardiff/Millwall/arsenal football academy?

Saints will pay a nominal fee to Jones' club W Connection after he impressed on a week's trial at St Mary's.

Saints chairman Rupert Lowe told his club's website: "He did well on trial so we signed him quickly because a lot of other clubs wanted him."



Jones has passed a medical and will sign a pre-contract agreement that will allow him to join Saints as soon as the transfer window opens.

Although he only has two full international caps, new regulations concerning Commonwealth countries will enable Jones to get a two-year student visa.

This will enable him to work and Saints hope that by the end of the two-years, he will have played in the requisite 75% of internationals to enable him to get a full work permit.

Jones could follow Trinidadians Blackburn striker Dwight Yorke and Portsmouth keeper Shaka Hislop into the Premiership.

Saints chairman Lowe added: "He is a tremendous athlete and the coaching staff believe they can turn him into a very good footballer.

"We hope we have got ourselves a very good player. He is certainly not short on confidence!"
