We haffi go with ballers who are playing regularly with their clubs for match fitness and to be sharp at the international level. We nuh waan mek the same mistake one of our old coaches mek in starting Tappa in Panama when he was a bench warmer on a 3rd division team.

Nyron Nosworthy and Adrian Mariappa are two new call-ups to the friendly international, Jamaica vs. Guyana on May 18 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex beginning at 8pm. Nosworthy is already in Jamaica and Mariappa arrives on May 14th.
Nosworthy and Mariappa play for the same club Watford F.C. in the UK. Adrian Mariappa the 25 year old Centre Back had a remarkable 2011-2012 season with Watford as he helped his club to numerous clean sheets. ‘Mapps’ as he is affectionately called qualifies to play for Jamaica through his mother. His father is from Fiji and in late 2010 he was named by the Fiji Football Association in the 50-member national training squad to prepare for the 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia, but did not take up the place as he wanted to concentrate on club football. Mariappa recently won the Watford Player of the Season Award for 2011-2012 season with a consistent display throughout all 42 matches he played. He joins a long list of great footballers who have won the award with Watford F.C., some of these names include Jamaica’s Marlon King. Mariappa has captained Watford at under-18, reserve and first-team levels, and is currently the club’s vice captain.
Nyron Paul Henry Nosworthy is experiencing a renaissance in form at Watford F.C. He moved there in January 2012 on a permanent deal after a commendable loan spell. He was first called to the Jamaican squad in 2007 for the game against Ghana.
These 2 players once Coach Whitmore puts them on the field are expected to
give the Guyanese front line headaches with their experienced tactical discipline and cohesion.
Also already in the island for the game are Luton Shelton; Damion Stewart. The Guyana team arrives on May 16
