Classic one touch ball and cool.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Fergie biggest mind job on KD was saying , Adam corner kicks are worth 10 million a piece, how true thats how much he has cost us to drop down the table, 8 th place , 4 games off a C:L place is just about right....40 million a year.

Pity KD couldnt read between the lines.

X, come on now! Charlie had 12 goals and 8 assists in the EPL last season. Mind games or not ... Adams' corners caused alot of problems to teams including MU last season.

I'm sorry ... the logic doesn't stand up to scrunity X. Tevez was the star boy of a relegated West Ham and went on to win the EPL and UCL with MU.

Didn't Aquallani fail to make an impression at Liverpool? Not all players can fit into a system being used by a club.

More On : Liverpool, Kenny Dalglish

As power struggles go, this one was always destined to be a lopsided battle.

Kenny Dalglish, with three-and-a-half decades of goodwill to fall back on, survives. Damien Comolli, the recruitment specialist partly responsible for a series of disastrous buys, exits two days before Liverpool’s biggest match of the season.
                    Don't Miss

The timing is bizarre but Liverpool’s American owners, who sat idly by while the club’s reputation went down the pan as a result of the Luis Suarez-Patrice Evra affair, have finally been stirred into action.

Naturally, Comolli’s departure as director of football has not been dressed up as a sacking. The Frenchman said he was “happy to move on from the Club and back to France for family reasons” in a club statement explaining he had left by “mutual consent”.

He leaves behind him a reputation battered by a string of expensive failures in the two 2011 windows. Tellingly, he did not get the chance to redeem himself in January.

Brought to the attention of Fenway Sports Group on the advice of his friend, the baseball stats guru Billy Beane, Comolli’s remit was to source outstanding players with sell-on value to help his team become champions.

FSG, whose sense of disengagement this season has been stark, have concluded that Comolli has not lived up to his billing.

Rumours of a power struggle between Dalglish, the football man who operates by gut feel, and Comolli, the lover of statistics and data, have followed the pair around since the Scot’s second coming 15 months ago.

It is not the first time Comolli has been at the centre of political machinations. In his previous post at Saint-Etienne, he was stuck in the middle of a war between the joint owners. At Tottenham, Martin Jol blamed Comolli for his ultimate failure as manager.

At Liverpool, the former Arsenal scout, who takes the credit for the signings of Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Gael Clichy among others, used statistics to find players previously underestimated in the transfer market.

There is a sense that Comolli wanted young players who could make a mark at Anfield and, in turn, generate a profit when they were sold. Dalglish, on the other hand, wanted British players who he could trust.

The result was an expensive compromise. The signings of Luis Suarez, Jose Enrique and Sebastian Coates all bear Comolli’s fingerprints and provide evidence that his methodology has worked.

But his legacy is ultimately the misfiring British players recruited for exorbitant sums and with salaries to match. Andy Carroll (£35 million), Stewart Downing (£20m), Jordan Henderson (£16m) and Charlie Adam (£7m) were brought to Merseyside because of their relative youth, good injury records and knowledge of the Premier League.

None has been a success. Only free transfer Craig Bellamy, hired on the final day of the August window following a last minute intervention from Dalglish, has consistently delivered.

Only a select few of Liverpool’s powerbrokers will know the exact input of the two men in each transfer deal. Dalglish has been at pains to point out that no signature has been placed on a playing contract without his approval, which begs the question of what exactly was the specific nature of Comolli’s role. Was he just a chief scout with a snazzy title? Or merely a senior executive who ensured the deals crossed the finish line?

But it is the lot of recruitment specialists such as Comolli that they are remembered for their flops.

Comolli needed another Suarez or a couple more Enriques to maintain his powerbase and keep the Boston-based beancounters happy.

Given a chance to build the Liverpool squad after the chaotic disarray of the Hicks and Gillett era, the Frenchman did not unearth enough gems. He failed in his task. HEADING FOR THE HOT SEAT?12/1
Jamie Carragher is 12/1 to be the next permanent Liverpool manager with Paddy Power

His departure suggests Dalglish will be given this summer and a good portion of next season to re-establish a reputation diminished by the events of this calendar year, despite bringing the first trophy to Anfield in six years. This theory suggests the Scot is master of all he surveys on Merseyside.

Alternatively, having acted so ruthlessly to dispose of Comolli, could we now assume that this is step one of a root-and-branch restructure that could pave the way for the exit of Dalglish?

Whatever the future holds, Dalglish’s immediate task will be to get the summer signings right. The question is whether he will do so alone with his scouting team or have someone in the mould of Comolli parachuted in to help him.

No .. not Gerrard ... no ... not Suarez .... forget it ... its not Carrol. Charlie Adam has 3 more assits than any other Liverpool player.

If you're asking me, then yes - he deserves a 7. You made the point about stats, whenever he starts we win. I think we have lost only once when he's started in the last 10 or whatever. However, I'm not giving him 100% credit for those results.

What I am seeing is a work rate that will make up for his short falls. He was in both boxes at Wigan on EVERY play. His transition work was excellent and you can see how if he gets the support around him (from a functional midfield) he can cause players havoc.

It was also one of the FIRST TIMES I have seen Liverpool play with Carroll up front where the midfielders didn't instinctively sky the ball in the air to him. Keeping it on the ground, keeping the game flowing and keeping him running will produce a very good player - no Messi or Van Persie, but a very strong squad player capable of 10+ goals a season.

Well - i think the interesting piece here is that it is obvious FSG are not happy and have learnt an important lesson putting a "legend" in charge. Not good business. They now are faced with a dilemma but my guess is that Comolli's departure is going to pave the way for KD to step up in the administration and bring in another manager...and woe to that manager...because KD probably won't give him the space he needs if he continues to insist on "british" players...it is a severely limiting factor. My guess is that KD will be given an elegant path to the door, but that will take 2 years of further frustration for the Liverpool faithful unless his replacement has big balls like Hiddink who is wasting away in Russia.
