HARBOUR VIEW FC SPANK DOWNS OF ST. ELIZABETH BY 6-0
IN RETURN GAME OF RED STRIPE KNOCKOUT CHAMPIONS CUP!
by Clyde Jureidini - HVFC
Michily Waul strikes twice as a late substitute!.
The team complied of Under 21 players, substitutes
from the night before as well as other players in the
squad worked intensely to carve out an impressive
victory in the end as the hard surface and troublesome
windy conditions were major distraction for the first
25 minutes or more before the team took control by
simplified team play.
Richard West keep his goal-scoring run in place by
notching the first after 27 minutes as Anthony
Christie passed beautifully to him inside the area.
Soon fellow hitman Rafiek Thomas would repeat the
feat, of scoring a goal in each of the last three
games when he pushed it away from the goalkeepers
reach.
West would return to square perfectly onto the head of
Lawrence Smith to score at the far post in minute 42.
3-0 at halftime as Coach Lennie Hyde instructed the
troops to retain the concentration through team play.
On the resumption the visitors from the east were in
immaculate form as they strode about the pitch with
confidence, ease and good coordination that seemed to
baffle the opponents who were without a coach.
Ricardo ?Bloody? Smith would score a rare goal for
himself, as his free kick from 21 yards out was held
up in the heavy crosswind before dipping dangerously
into the goal over the head of the goalkeeper.
Three substitutes made their entry as Michily Waul,
Kemar Petrekin and Paul Grant made an impressive
contribution to the game as Waul converted twice
inside the area to end the contest at 6-0 but 10 -0
overall, following last weeks 4-0 victory at home.
RED STRIPE CHAMPIONS CUP KNOCKOUT:
We await the next draw for the quarterfinals scheduled
on either March 7th or 8th, 2007.
END OF SECOND ROUND FINALS:
Sunday we travel again to St. Elizabeth Technical High
School, this time to seek a Special Trophy on our 33rd
