  • The Old Ice Hockey Trick Worked...Twice

FC Union Berlin used the old pull-the goalie trick last week and today to salvage ties on a goal in the final seconds of the game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDhTy_sQ2xg Union Berlin (in white shirts) scored in the final seconds for a 3-3 tie against Ingolstadt 04

At the end of this video, Union goalie Jan Glinke (in orange shirt) went deep into Ingolstadt 04's box to keep the play alive. He headed the ball back into a pile at the goal line, and someone kicked the ball into the net.

Today, Union Berlin (red shirts) scored in injury time for a 1-1 tie against Duisborg. Glinke was in Duisborg's penalty area, but did not figure in the play.

I am surprised we don't see this more in footy when teams are losing.

      Question: Substitutes

Why do substitutes sitting on the bench NOT wear their uniform shirts....that they have to reach into a bag and put on their shirt before going into a game.

I understand they need warmup suits for the cold weather, and colored vests to identify them as non-players.
