Scott Dann has described rupturing his testicle as 'more painful than it sounds'.
The Blackburn defender was ruled out for six weeks after suffering the freak injury in the defeat by West Brom in December.
Dann was injured as he overstretched to score his first goal for the club.
Scott of bother: Dann was ruled out for six weeks with a ruptured testicle
He completed the final 18 minutes of the 2-1 defeat but afterwards complained of discomfort to the club's medical staff who thought it was slight internal bleeding and sent him home.
It was not until the centre half was preparing to go on a night out that he realised the extent of the injury and he rushed to hospital, where doctors decided to operate almost immediately.
'Our physio, Dave Fevre, is very experienced and he's never seen an injury like it before,' Dann, who was speaking about the injury for the first time said.
'And it's even more painful than it sounds. It was not a pretty sight.
'I overstretched and clashed with the goalkeeper, Ben Foster. I was in severe pain and couldn't run, but I was determined to carry on, despite knowing that something was badly wrong.'
