    I bet if you looked at two different stats compiled by two different agencies observing the same game you'd have two different set of stats..
    Actually, I think you're off on that one GasX. These agencies exist primarily to aid betting on sports in Europe. From what I understand, they are highly sophisticated and have very reliable models with little deviation from agency to agency. Believe me, if you are supplying stats to those bookies "from Italy" and they don't get the right data, you might find yourself wearing a pair of concrete boots with a one way excursion to the bottom of the river Thames.

      Do know top teams - clubs - and also many national teams collect such stats (along with other stats) to assist in/on improvement of TEAM.

            Not a recent thing.
            The use of those stats and others has been going on for a good many years.
