Our penalty was pathetic, should have done much better with that. Still, we are not being outplayed.

RE: U-20s: We have been hit early!

It is early..but, we have missed a penalty and we appear far slower than the Costa Ricans.

Thought this was a 'fast set of youngsters'? ~sigh`!!!

We are also not pressuring the ball or the opponents! We arejust walking about and the Costa Ricans are just easing into space and outmanovering us.~sigh~

Where is thinking when you need it?

        Who said they were fast?

I think most have acknowledged that it is our least talented youth team in a while.

I would have agree with you except for the fact the JFF offered very little preparation for the U-20s.

Typical performance. Atrocious defending, blasting balls over the midfield, inability to control the ball in one motion, no crisp passing or movement off of the ball, holding of the ball too long in midfield. This Costa Rica team is too much for them.

RE: U-20s: We have been hit early!

End of 1st half - painful! The Costa Ricans do not look that good except when they are on or about our penalty-area. Yes, dangerous...but, I do not see what they are doing to get there.

Our guys appear to not want to attack the ball. Hey...the ball is most important. Get to it! First!

Then when we are on attack we appear not to know when to pass to the foremost attacker. No matter that that attacker - btw: what is his name? - can be heard by me, sitting infront of my TV, calling for the ball.

Still we got our chances! Penalty! + one free-kick which our striker missed kicked and got a swipe at while sitting on the ground. Just missed too...!!!!

Aside: Why is it our players keep falling over?

RE: U-20s: We have been hit early!

These players were in camp for six weeks, they are not under prepared. Most of these players lack basic technical skills, theiranticipation is poor, still ball watching, and they need tokeep their formation and shape. The long hair striker on the left keep outpacing them to the ball and no one seem to try and close mark him. The team will play better in the second half. Typical Ja performance...

                  Well...?????

Said Weatherly: 'In terms of technical ability, this team is a better team and much faster than the previous team.
...if they were faster than the other team, - the last one I saw - then they must have some runners.

...and, if they are fast and technically good...then, using their commonsense...they should be good!

Unfortunately they do not look good! Yet...if they let off passes to the forwards and continue crossing...they may win! Costa Rica really do not look all that better.

But I doubt the JFF had even implemented 80% of Coach Weatherly's six week outlined plan.

They lack match practise! Practise against quality teams.

The mistakes they are making...the 'brain in deep freeze' problems they are having...some of it could be behind them if they had similar type - (for our players this is a practise match...as they have never faced such competition regularly before today) -better practise matches.

Kindly take note of vast improvement in their play after half-time.

Defender does not meet ball...then he trots after it & the Costa Rican player...

                        run through GOAL COSTA RICA!

Even with these players we could have done 1000 times better! ..but, not practising....means preparing to lose! Based on what I saw we prepared (to lose) very, very well!

When will the JFF learn!

Thus has nothing to do with lack of match practise. Not being able to square a ball or take a corner or stay on your feet to make a tackle or close down an opposing player or hustle to a 50/50 ball is something that is endemic to our footballers.

                            repeating your words -
Not being able to square a ball or take a corner or stay on your feet to make a tackle or close down an opposing player or hustling to a ball is something that is endemic to our footballers
                            - thus has everything to do with not practising the correct thing.

If in the slow paced home matches poor play is the order of the day...then it stands to reason that doing those things in a faster paced game will result in 'exposure' of your inadequacies.

Constantly being exposed as technically deficient...will result in 'cutting out' that which brings failure and learning that which gives greater chance at successes. ...the practises against higher quality opponents will DEMAND raising of one's game - IMPROVEMENT!

Eventually you will learn you have to match and then surpass this higher qualityopposition's standards.

As I said, before you cannot have your D'Cup team practising against the 2nd formers and then expect them to go out and win the D'CUP! It is a nonsense strategy! NONSENSE POLICY!

Against 2nd formers you will have years to put in your crosses...you can jog about...you will be stronger than the 2nd formers...you will have years in time to take your shots...you will be able to trap poorly and get away with it...all manner of poor technique will not bring grief...but, put that outstanding against the 2nd formers on the field against COSTA RICA...this not so good COSTA RICA team and you shall lose!

This U-20 has the talent to do well on the international scene at their age group - their improved play in the 2nd half shows they have 'miles' of ability to improve a 1000fold! - but, they had had preparations, arranged for them by the JFF,against 2nd form quality opponents and it shows! The JFF have prepared them to fail! ...and, they did!

                            Not the players fault!

The last team had Mario Harrison, Jermaine Taylor, Priestly as the backbone. All of whom are slow.

Not to mention that skinny kid that Princess and yuttie used to hype up.

I think most teams would have been faster than that team.
