  • Please, please, can the JFF determine and award a Footballer of the Year?

See, as shown below, even little TnT have one.
But then, the JFF's gives administrators a higher priority than players. This is easy to organize. I suggest that, (similar to FIFA player of the year survey), all NPL club coaches and captains, and any player who has played for Jamaica in the last five years have one vote. No JFF administrators can vote. No player can vote for himself.

Also, although many of the forum will disagree, no fans can vote. Not because we don't have the knowledge or passion to make a good decision, but the administration to get a vote would be too difficult. For all who say that we could easily vote online, I say that there are more Reggaeboyz fans without access to the web than with. Thos fanz without access to the WWW wouldnt get a chance to vote. Maybe cellphone text voting as in American Idol?

Yorke gets Trinidad & Tobago honour

Dwight Yorke has been named Trinidad & Tobago's Player of the Year for 2006.

The Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) gave the Sunderland striker the award after he led the country to the World Cup in Germany last year.

He was voted man of the match as the team collected their first and only World Cup point in the goalless draw with Sweden.

As a consequence of winning the award, Yorke is automatically nominated for the First Citizen Bank Sports Foundation Sportsman of the Year accolade.

    Another great suggestion!

We really do need a FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR award.

<DIV>Didn't Burton win such an award back in the day? And I seem to remember the RBSC (USA &amp; Ja) coming together to make such an award to Onandi Lowe.</DIV><DIV></DIV><DIV>Certianly, I think it should be revived and done bigger and better!</DIV>

I think Tappa may have also been honoured in the year he won "Caribbean - or was it - CFU Footballer of the Year"...

...but, I think theproposal is for an annual "Jamaica Footballer of the Year". Such a proposal many would agree should be implemented. This is certainly one area where the JFF and the Supporterz Club could work together.
