Klinsi continues to go heavy on the defensive midfielders (he started 3 in this game) and ignore attacking midfielders like Feilhaber and Klejstan, who weren't even called up. And that's why you see Altidore getting stranded up top by himself.

I know that with these friendlies now is the time to experiment. But when you see the coach continue to repeat the same experiments that didn't work the previous time it starts to get a bit irritating.
