    Tevez agent on player ownership

    Joorabchian backs third-party owners

    October 5, 2011

    By ESPNsoccernet staff

Renowned football power broker Kia Joorabchian has defended third-party ownership of players, insisting that the practice helps smaller clubs compete in the transfer market.

    Joorabchain: Tevez was mistranslated
Joorabchian acts as an adviser to a number of high-profile players - most notably Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez, who the Iranian-born businessman brought to the Premier League from Corinthians five years ago.

Tevez was part-owned by Joorabchian until 2008, when he was forced to sell the Argentinian's rights after the Football Association and Premier League enforced a blanket ban on third-party ownership.

However, the shared-ownership model remains widespread in other countries, particularly in South America, and Joorabchian believes the deals he is still involved in outside of England are beneficial for smaller clubs, who are unable to raise large transfer fees without extra support.

"If the banks are not willing to lend them money there needs to be another vehicle to lend them money to allow them to compete," Joorabchian said.
"Otherwise it will always be the top four or you need to find billionaire. The smaller clubs will never get a chance to succeed."

His model is worse than club ownership. It would have the player under slavery forever. As I posted here many times, the EPL does not want any ownership besides club ownership. That was the main reason for Tevez' initial problems. Tevez was so dense, he couldnt figure out that Kia was not his agent but his owner.

Not sure how it's any different than a club "owning" a players economic rights for x amount of years...

Well, Tevez has smiling (all the way to banks) for years.

Was reported that when he joined Man City -
: The weekly salary that Carlos Tevez is on at Manchester City - £150,000 a week
            Base salary

MSI & Tevez? Yes...stating that MSI owns his economic rights instead of the club he plays for...he was being loaned out to the clubs...

MSI gets the transfer fee...Tevez gets the salary...the club gets the player on loan...of course the league wouldn't like that deal...

Hold on a minute. With the club-player relationship, it is a deal for a few years and then it expires and the then the player and his agent can do another deal or do one year deals. However, Tevez is permanently owned by his agent. His agent is not negotiating for Tevez but for the agent's own interst when a dela is being done with a team. Tevez does not have someone who is looking out for just Tevez' interest.

Tevez was not permanently owned by MSI they had a contract lasting x amount of years...MSI is looking to get the maximum transfer fee for their players...remember the transfer fee went to MSI...the higher the transfer fee the higher Tevez's wages...how can MSI not be looking out for Tevez's best interest when his contract guaranteed him to be the highest paid player at the club?
