    Mark Valentine Chamberlain (born 19 November 1961 in Stoke-on-Trent) is an English retired international footballer. He is the younger brother of Neville Chamberlain, and the father of Arsenal and England U21 player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
    He began his professional playing career with Port Vale in 1978, where he remained for four years before being sold on to rivals Stoke City, having already been selected for the PFA Fourth Division Team of the Year in 1981–82. In 1985 he signed with Sheffield Wednesday, before he moved on to Portsmouth three years later. He remained with Pompey until 1994, at which point he transferred to Brighton & Hove Albion. The following year he joined Exeter City, before entering into management at Fareham Town in 1997. Between 1982 and 1984 he won four caps for the England under-21s and eight caps for the senior team.

    Born in Stoke-on-Trent to British Jamaican parents, Chamberlain started his career with Port Vale, making his debut as a substitute in a 2–2 home draw with Scunthorpe United on 19 August 1978, aged 16.

    It was the words of the late John McGrath, his charismatic if fearsome manager, that put Mark Chamberlain on the fast track. 'Put some clothes on, you're going to speak to Stoke,' he said.
    Until then it had been a normal Thursday morning at Port Vale. By the end of the day Chamberlain had crossed the Potteries. Two days later, he made his Stoke debut. By the end of the year he was an England international.
    'John McGrath sent me in to speak to Stoke manager Richie Barker and told me to ask for a £15,000 signing-on fee and £200 a week,' said Chamberlain. 'So in I went and Richie shakes my hand and says, "I'm going to offer you £200 a week and a £15,000 signing on fee".

    'I said, "No, you two have been talking." They started laughing and said: "What do you want?" I said: "Well, we're fourth division. You're first division. I'm on £90 a week, so let's multiply it by four." It was quite basic in those days.'

              Winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continued his rich vein of scoring form with a stunning hat-trick that underlined his emergence as one of England’s top prospects in Reykjavik.
              Arsenal’s £12million summer signing from Southampton has wasted no time justifying Arsene Wenger’s faith in him by scoring in his last two club appearances.

              The 18-year-old’s finishing has already caught the eye of national coach Fabio Capello.

              He did his hopes of a senior call-up no harm by claiming his first England Under 21 goals in a dominant Euro 2013 qualifying performance by Stuart Pearce’s side at the Langardalsvollur Stadium.
              Marvin Sordell could claim an assist for Oxlade-Chamberlain’s 12th-minute opener, as could referee Clement Turpin for playing advantage after a foul on the Watford striker. Oxlade-Chamberlain surged clear and expertly clipped beyond Arnar Petursson.
              The Iceland goalkeeper blundered soon after, spilling a cross from Nathan Delfouneso at the feet of Oxlade-Chamberlain, who steered the ball into an empty net.
              Peturrson was at fault again for England’s third, though Oxlade-Chamberlain’s brilliance set up the shooting chance on the right.

              Three defenders were left in his wake, as he weaved his way to the by-line before whipping in a cross-shot that the hapless keeper helped over his own line.
              The win sends England top of the group with two wins from two games, above Norway on goal difference.
