  • Juventus confirm third appeal

<P class=big>Juventus are to appeal their relegation to Serie B to a civil court after failing twice previously to overturn the decision.

The Old Lady were found guilty of sporting fraud in July and demoted to Italy's second division and penalised 30 points by a soccer tribunal.

The Italian giants have twice appealed unsuccessfully to be reinstated in Serie A, although the points penalty was reduced to 17 points.

Juventus' most recent appeal failed on Friday but the club have confirmed they will take the matter to the civil courts, as well as consider appealing again to the sports body's arbitration court.

Bianconeri president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli (pictured) is keen to be given the same treatment as the other three clubs involved in the scandal, Milan, Fiorentina and Lazio, who have all been saved from relegation.

"We have the duty to safeguard the team, players and supporters' honour and also the club's heritage," Cobolli Gigli told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"The motivation following the second verdict has strengthened our conviction to be right when we ask for the same treatment as the other clubs who have been readmitted into Serie A."

The decision to take the appeal to the civil court could further delay the start of the new Serie A season, which has already been put back once to September 9-10
