<P class=StoryText align=justify>New technical director Bora Milutinovic is pleased with the response of his select Reggae Boyz squad after just four training sessions last week at the GC Foster College in St Catherine.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The 22-man squad held an afternoon session last Monday, twice on Tuesday and one last Wednesday, before breaking camp. They return to the G C Foster today for a similar three-day camp.<P class=StoryText align=justify>"The players have been good," a fatigued Bora told the Observer at the end of the session last Wednesday.
"They make effort, the enthusiasm is good and I can't ask for anything more," he added.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The select Reggae Boyz, comprising 16 Under-23 and six older players, are preparing for the Hong Kong 2007 Lunar New Year Cup, which is slated for the first and fourth day of the Lunar New Year holiday, February 18 and 21. Four teams, Hong Kong, Australia, China and Jamaica will participate in the tournament.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Jamaica will open against a Hong Kong League XI in the first match at 2:15 am (Jamaica time), followed by China against Australia at 4:15 am at the Hong Kong Stadium.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The two losers meet at 5:00 am (Jamaica time) for the third-place play-off on February 21, followed by the two winners challenging for the title at 7:15 am (Jamaica time).<P class=StoryText align=justify>In the latest FIFA World Rankings, Hong Kong are ranked 117th, Australia 39th, China 83rd and Jamaica 57th.<P class=StoryText align=justify>The select Reggae Boyz squad, the first assembled by Bora, will use the tournament as part of their preparation for the Pan-American Games in Brazil in July 2007 and the 2008 Olympic Games in China.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Last Wednesday, Bora suggested that he had got his selection right and that no players would be added to the list for the trip to Hong Kong.<P class=StoryText align=justify>"I have seen all the players that you have," he said. "This is the final squad."<P class=StoryText align=justify>The tournament marks the return to Hong Kong of Bora, who masterminded China qualifying for their first ever World Cup finals in 2002.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Meanwhile, former senior team head coach Wendell Downswell, who assisted Bora with the training sessions, said he would be travelling to Hong Kong as part of the technical staff, though he is yet to receive official confirmation of a post with the Jamaica Football Federation.<P class=StoryText align=justify>And Downswell was full of praise for Bora's work thus far, as did Christopher Bender, who, out of a craving for knowledge, got permission from Bora to assist as well.<P class=StoryText align=justify>They concluded that the new technical director is "very meticulous" and places a premium on "intelligent or smart" playing.<P class=StoryText align=justify>Bora starts his sessions with lectures in the classroom of what he wants in training, and according to Downswell and Bender, he "ensures that the players understand what is required of them before moving on.
