Corneal: Young Warriors ready for CFU challenge
Monday, August 21 2006
TRINIDAD and Tobago’s Under-16 football team coach Anton Corneal said his team was ready for the challenge despite the short notice of the change in fixtures of the tournament.
TT face Barbados today in the second match of a double-header from 5 pm at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.
“It really doesn’t make that much of a difference to us because all the teams are in a similar position. Surely we would have liked to go on as planned but we just need to step up and face what is put in front of us,” Corneal said yesterday.
“Looking back at what we have done so far, I felt our second match against Grenada was our best performance and then we had the opportunity to look at a couple more players against Guyana and allow them that experience of playing.
“Now with the short notice of the change we had been planning to train tomorrow (Monday) but we will now switch the focus now.”
“We will be as ready as our opponents because they are in a similar situation. Our guys will be ready because they are always eager to play and that augers well for us,” Corneal said.
