Univ. of Akron signs Akeil Omari Barrett

Univ. of Akron signs former Calabar High School and Harbor View U-20 Team member Akeil Omari Barrett. He will join fellow countryman Darren Mattocks and compete for a spot up top for the Zips this fall. The lower sixth-form student has three CXC subjects, Communication Studies, History and Sociology and has his eyes set on playing soccer at the highest level. We wish him success.

I saw it. Good environment for him. They have recruited a class made up some top US players as well.

I understand that Tulloch who wasn't getting much time last year at Akron should be transferring to UCONN. Good move for him too.
Wish them well. I also understand Mattocks is with Jamaica under 23 this summer.

Yes, Mattocks has been training with the team. Took a while for him to get going, but I have seen enough to know now he's the real deal!

I have seen him a few times. he needs to work on keeping the ball a little more but he has pace, very good movement and can finish with back to goal, head the ball well and fight for every ball.

He doesn't need to play more than one more season of college ball. He needs to get into a GOOD system.
