  • Another case of injury to the metatarsal

England defender King, 26, has injured the fourth metatarsal of his left foot.

He has not played since Spurs' last Premiership win, against Aston Villa on Boxing Day at White Hart Lane.

A Spurs statement read: "The medical staff are fully confident that, given the new timeframe, Ledley will make a complete recovery."

The statement added: "Ledley first bruised the bone in his foot four weeks ago. He progressed quickly with his rehabilitation, getting back to a moderate-to-high level of intensity.

"However, he recently suffered a setback when the injury recurred to the extent that the club medical staff are having to treat the injury like a stress fracture, even though he has not broken his metatarsal.

King has suffered an injury-troubled season, having also been out with a knee injury.

He had earlier spoken about his hopes of making a swift return, saying: "It was building up gradually, just a feeling at the sole of my foot that wasn't right.

"It is something I have felt before and I knew what would happen next. I spoke to the physios, went for a scan and it was right that I rested when I did.

"There are plenty of good games to be involved in and everyone in the squad wants to play. Competition for places is fierce, which is good and keeps everyone on their toes.

"There is a lot to look forward to at the moment and players who are out want to get back as soon as possible." </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

RE: Another case of injury to the metatarsal

During the run-up to the World Cup wasn't there a story (...or, set of reports) claiming the manafacturers football footware was the case of these 'rash' of injuries?

Anyone to throw any light on that?
