GOLD CUP ORGANIZING COMMITTEE AUTHORIZES MEXICO TO REPLACE UP TO FIVE
PLAYERS
NEW YORK (Sunday, June 19, 2011) – The CONCACAF Gold Cup Organizing Committee today evaluated the petition from the Federacion Mexicana de Futbol to replace five players on its 23-man competition roster who had been separated from the National Team after
a recent out of competition doping test.
After evaluating the circumstances and information presented, the committee resolved:
1. Based on the specific facts of this case, and on FIFA's advice on the matter, the situation at hand is a case of force majeure as contemplated in the competition regulations.
2. Therefore the Mexican National Team shall be permitted to replace the five separated players with up to five other players for the remainder of the competition.
