CHICAGO (May 25, 2011) - Spain has selected 17 players from the squad that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup to face the United States on June 4 in Foxborough, Mass.
The lineup includes strikes Fernando Torres and David Villa, their leading scorer in South Africa, and Andrés Iniesta, the man who scored the game-winning goal in the World Cup final against Holland.
A total of 11 players from Spanish league powerhouses Barcelona and Real Madrid will travel to the U.S., including six players from the newly crowned league champion Barcelona side that will face Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League final this Saturday.
More than 54,000 tickets have been sold for the match against No.1-ranked Spain (tickets). Kickoff at Gillette Stadium is set for 4:30 p.m. ET, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN and Univision. Fans can follow the match live on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker and on Twitter @ussoccer.
