  • Marlon King In Limbo?

MARLON King’s Coventry City future hangs in the balance as he weighs up whether to go with his head or his heart.

The Sky Blues’ top goal scorer has grown very close to the club that helped him get his career up and running again after prison, not least because of the way the fans have embraced him – giving him the ultimate accolade this week by voting him their Player of the Season.

But the 31-year-old knows he is not getting any younger and if the opportunity arises to move back to a Premier League club, he admits he would find it hard to turn down.

"It means a lot to get the award and it’s a good end to the season for me," said the out-of-contract striker who is understood to be considering a number of options including Leicester.

"Obviously I have had my ups and downs but the club have given me my opportunity and I can’t thank everyone associated with Coventry enough and I like to think that I leave here with a bit of pride.

"It is especially pleasing because I started the season late and had to play catch up as I settled in but that’s all credit to the coaching staff, the players and especially the fans who have been magnificent with me. And to get their vote is very special.

"If you took away the suspensions and if I had had a clear season I like to think that I would have got 20 plus goals and that’s my target for next year."

He added: "It has been a big season for me, re-establishing myself, getting back into circulation, getting my goals and doing what I love.
"Obviously that was taken away from me for nine months and hopefully it’s a case of onwards and upwards."

Although everything is right in terms of being settled at the club and the brand of football under Andy Thorn, the ambitious King knows this could be his last chance of having a crack at the big time.

"I can’t lie, everything is under consideration," he said. "If you ask a normal working person to double their wages, you have to weigh it up.
"It is a short career and I am 31 so everything will play a part in the decision I make – finance, ambition and opportunities.

sounds like he has options ... i would not say he is in limbo, COVENTRY is in limbo.
