Abramovich Has Sights Set On Mancini As Mourinho's Replacement
Roman Abramovich is very keen on the current Inter coach.
Roberto Mancini
Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich is reportedly planning to replace coach Jose Mourinho with Roberto Mancini of Inter. Mancini has six months left on his contract, but owner Massimo Moratti insists the renewal is only a matter of time.
Tension is reportedly running high between Mourinho and Abramovich due to the fact the Portuguese coach has not been given the reinforcements he asked for his squad. According to reports, the Russian entrepeneur is prepared to offer Mancini a 12 million euro a year contract to lure him to Stamford Bridge, rumours fueled by the fact the coach has always stated an ambition to work in England.
Abramovich is allegedly a big fan of 42-year-old ex-striker, whom he considers a young and dynamic coach, which is exactly the type person he favours for the Blues bench. Guus Hiddink, Carlo Ancelotti, and Marcello Lippi are also reportedly on Chelsea's shortlist, Mancini is still first choice.
The current Inter coach, whom Inter president Massimo Moratti hopes to keep at the club for a very long time, has managed to win one Scudetto (the one assigned after Calciopoli), two Italian Cups, and two Italian Supercups.
