Colorado boss Fernando Clavijo says he has high hopes for MLS SuperDraft third round pick Omar Cummings, who is coming back from a knee injury.

The former University of Cincinnati striker was All-Big East each of the past two seasons and a first team All-American in 2006, notching 13 goals and 16 assists in 38 games.

"He's mature," Clavijo told the Cincinnati Enquirer. "He's a proven goal-scorer."

"Hopefully, what he did in college, he can do in the pros."

Cummings, who hails from Jamaica, was relieved to get the Rapids call on draft day after the injury kept him out of the MLS Combine.

"It's actually coming along good," he reports. "There's still a little bit of swelling, but it should be fine in the next week."

"I was hoping for the best because I hadn't played in the combine - I knew a lot of coaches were interested."</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
