The 20-year-old Dutch international, who can play out wide or as a second striker, has been linked with clubs across Europe and is widely expected to leave Ajax with contract talks stalling, although he may well complete this season in Holland as part of any transfer.
The youngster has 18-months left to run on his current deal and a fee of around £7m to £10m would be too good for the Amsterdam club to refuse and it seems Arsene Wenger is prepared to cough up the cash.
Babel, who was part of the Dutch World Cup squad, was also targeted by Newcastle during the January transfer window, according to reports.</DIV></DIV>
