Dirk Kuyt is ready to commit his long term future to Liverpool by signing a new contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2014.
The Holland international has two seasons left on the deal he signed in May 2009 but the terms have been renegotiated to effectively give him a new three-year deal.
Kuyt, 30, could have left Liverpool last summer when Inter Milan made a strong bid to sign him but it now appears he will see out his top-flight career in the Barclays Premier League. He expects to put pen-to-paper on the contract when he returns from international duty.
Red hot: Kuyt (centre) is Liverpool's top scorer this season with 10 goals
'Liverpool is a club that should be playing for trophies and I guarantee that will happen soon,' said Kuyt, who has scored four goals in his last two Premier League appearances.
'With Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll arriving, we have become stronger and I have a strong suspicion that the club will reinforce again in the summer.
'This helps my belief that we will be playing for trophies again next season. I want to stay because the club is showing ambition, the team is getting stronger and my family and I absolutely love it here. I hope I will sign my contract very soon.'
Meanwhile, Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard, could return to training next week – just over a fortnight after undergoing surgery on a groin problem.
