  • Another youth killed by falling goalpost?

This is the 2nd one ,,,, really sad. The goals I've been around were always planted in the ground .... I guess for that reason the thought of such an accident didn't cross my mind.

    Goals And Anchors

It all starts when children start climbing on the goals.

Goalposts are somethimes buried into the ground, or can be held down with a variety of anchors (see link above).

Another method is to bury two pipes into the ground, with the tops sticking out about a foot and a half, then place the hollow goal posts on top of the pipes. Portable goals used during games are somethimes held down with sand bags.

Not necessarily true Bruce. I saw on World News where a youth playing in a game as a goalkeeper died when the goal fell over on him.

The school is to be blamed for this one, goal posts were not anchored and they had tied a tarp between both posts to fashion a makeshift tent and it appears the wind blew it down..
Solidarity is not a matter of well wishing, but is sharing the very same fate whether in victory or in death.
