Jarrett Park to host CONCACAF U-17 World Cup qualifiers
Jarrett Park in Montego Bay, St. James has been named the alternative venue for next week's CONCACAF Under-17 World Cup Championships in place of the Trelawney Multi-Purpose Stadium which was deemed unsuitable on Wednesday.
Organisers have three days to get Jarrett Park up to CONCACAF standards.
Two more changing rooms will be among the improvements needed before the venue is passed.
Horace Reid, General Secretary of the Jamaica Football Federation, outlines the tasks to be completed.
"They have to put in a media centre, we have to put in suitable facilities for the match commissioners and the referees etc., and we have to put in a hospitality area and a medical centre. We also have to improve on the dressing rooms and the showers … those are the general infrastructural things in addition to other cosmetic improvements that are needed," he told RJR sports.
The opening games which should have been played at the Trelawney venue have been shifted to Catherine Hall was which passed following a tour of the facility Wednesday night.
According to Reid, organisers have until next Wednesday to make improvements to Jarrett Park.
Sports Minister Olivia Grange has appointed Robert Martin, Permanent Secretary in her ministry, to investigate what went wrong with the field at the Trelawney stadium.
