Japan and a surprising Jordan team have advanced to the second round of the Asian Cup in Qatar.
Japan, having to start its backup goaltender after its #1 goalie was sent off in the last match against Syria, destroyed Saudi Arabia 5-0. The Saudis were clearly the biggest disappointment in the match.
Jordan beat Syria 2-1 to finish second in Group B.
Japan and Syria finished the group with 7 points, but Japan had a better goal difference. Syria had three points, and Saudi Arabia zero.
Uzbekistan and Qatar have advanced from Group A.
In Group C, Australia leads with 4 points, South Korea and Bahrain have 3 each, and India has 0. Tomorrow, Australia plays Bahrain while South Korea plays India.
In Group D, Iran has 6 points, Iraq 3, North Korea and United Arab Emirates have one point each. That group plays Wednesday.
