Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will make enquiries into signing Liverpool defender Daniel Agger who appears unhappy at not being guaranteed first team football. The Danish international spoke out about the club’s style of play under Roy Hodgson and in doing so appeared to anger the veteran manager and now the former Brondby man, back from injury, has stated that he will look for a move if he is not a regular in the Anfield starting eleven.

Wenger has previously been linked with a move for Agger who can play effective at left back but much prefers his usual role in the centre of defence and given that the Gunners boss has been openly looking to strengthen his back line a move for the disaffected Liverpool man makes a great deal of sense.

Some sources have stated that Roy Hodgson would be open to offers for a player who appears to be low down in the club’s central defensive pecking order with the likes of Martin Skrtel, Jamie Carragher and even Greek international Sotirios Kyrgiakos getting the nod over Agger.

Arsenal’s defence has been noticeably shaky this season with new signings Sebastien Squillaci and Laurent Koscielny on occasion making mistakes and the Emirates boss has made it clear he would like to bring in reinforcements and given Agger’s proven Premier League credentials a move for the £10m rated Dane would make a great deal of sense

Liverpool Ready to Offload £18m Star to Real Madrid

Liverpool full back Glen Johnson is reportedly set to leave Anfield and Spanish sources believe the England international may be on his way to Real Madrid. The former Chelsea right back has not had the best of seasons and has apparently fallen out with boss Roy Hodgson and will be sold this month.

There are some reports that have suggested that Liverpool had agreed a fee to sell the 26 year old Londoner to Tottenham but that the player himself had turned down such a move as he has his heart set on a move abroad where it is thought that both Real Madrid and Juventus are preparing bids for his services.

Johnson is known to be taking Spanish lessons that appears to add further weight to the rumours of a move to La Liga and Jose Mourinho is known to be an admirer and that a bid will be tabled soon. Liverpool will want to recoup most, if not all, the massive £18m fee paid to Portsmouth in July 2009 and Real Madrid appears the most likely to make such an offer.

Jose Mourinho was of course in charge of Chelsea when Johnson was offloaded to Pompey but that decision was mainly taken because the player himself wanted to move to secure regular first team football and not because the Portuguese manager did not rate him as a player.

Sky Sports Italia say that the England international is being eyed by Juventus and Real Madrid so a move to either club, in Italy or Spain, would fit his preference however Real would seem the more likely destination as the defender has recently confessed to taking Spanish lessons for “future use”. “Not his team” – The worst excuse possible
A message to all Roy's chums in the media; dispelling 2 of your pathetic myths.

I am tired of hearing media pundits and former managers providing their backing to Roy Hodgson as Liverpool manager by proclaiming that “it’s not his team” and how he needs time to build his team, or how Rafa Benitez left him a poor squad.

Let’s get one very simple thing straight here; was it Alan Pardew’s team when Newcastle beat Liverpool in Pardew’s first game in charge as Newcastle manager? Was it Steve Kean’s team when Blackburn beat Liverpool on Wednesday night?

It is always the manager’s team.

The manger’s job is to manage the players at his disposal. Whether he signed them or not is irrelevant. The manger coaches, provides the tactics, gives the teamtalks and seeks to motivate the players. If he is not doing this, he is not doing his job.

    As for the “Benitez left him a poor squad” argument. Let’s look at some good old FACTS;

    - when Roy Hodgson took charge on July 1st, Liverpool had more players represented at the 2010 World Cup than any previous World Cup, and more than any other Premier League side had.

    - the squad which Hodgson inherited finished second in the Premier League just 12 months previously, with the club’s highest Premier League points tally

    - Roy Hodgson choose to loan out Alberto Aquilani and Emiliano Insua…

    - … and then signed Christian Poulsen and Paul Konchesky

    - Roy Hodgson signed Raul Meireles for £11m, then admitted how he wasn’t sure where best to play him

A message to all of Roy’s friends in the media – 35 years in management without a major honour says it all. He was out of his depth the moment he got the job.

Here’s one for you, Kenny Dalglish has won more trophies than Hodgson has won away games in all his time managing English sides.

Another thing, please stop reporting his overall win record (which includes pathetic Europa League games). His league win percentage is the lowest for any Liverpool manager post-war (35%).

Goodbye Roy, Goodbye Roy’s media chums.
