I do not know if scoring a bunch of goals while hindering the progress of the TEAM in World football and hindering exposure of other Jamaica footballers on the World's stage is beneficial to Jamaica, Jamaica's football and our footballers languishing in poverty back home in Jamaica is a good thing?
Sure scoring those goals against the 2nd formers burnishes Luton Shelton's resume and helps to keep him in the money...but does he and those who would make TEAM of our Reggae Boyz and drag our football to higher heights have any responsibility to make/create/build for our greater good?
The answers to those questions, I think takes the edge off the selfish "Nandi Lowe's one-a-day" goalscoring that kept formation of TEAM and thus advancement of Jamaica's football on the back burner.
We need to grow up and get these footballer of undoubted excellent talent to see the bigger picture.
I dare say, *Luton Shelton and Fuller would be right up there with the Ronaldos and others of his ilk if the had embraced the concept of TEAM first, second, third and right to infinity.
Ronaldo had the brukie boo skills...as does Fuller...but Sir Alex got Ronaldo to embrace TEAM first and the rest is trophies galore and history!
*Luton Shelton is still young enough to make it greater heights...but he will have to add TEAM baller to his resume.
It may be too late for Fuller as it is for another of our supermely gifted balls, Jermaine "Teddy" Johnson.
NB: Go no further than Messi's less that stellar performance at the last World Cup where instead of team first he tried the to do too much (was too selfish in that higher rarified air of the World Cup) and bombed!Last edited by Karl; December 11, 2010, 12:19 PM."Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Karl, when was the last time you watched Fuller play? Fuller has become a very complete team player...it might be too late for the world to give him his due, but it's not too late for him help JA in quals. Further more, I expect my creative forwards to ever so often be a brukey boo to create a possible chance and to create fear and doubt in a defense. Yes, it means, sometimes, that creative force will loose the ball..but so be it if it has the effect of causing fear in the opposing defense and creates more space for our other players.
If Shelton can work on his first touch and decision he will make a trailer load of money ...him need fi sid down with Burton and Fuller to get some pointers...he is still young enough to make the impact that Fuller should have but didn't because of his injuries.
