Capello also spoke in praise of another new cap, Henderson, and urged the Wembley crowd to support the emerging players even if they find it difficult to adjust to international football immediately.
"The three players [Carroll, Henderson and Gibbs], we have to support them if the performances are not okay," he said.
"It's really important. Also, the senior players like Rio Ferdinand, Gareth Barry and Steven Gerrard have to help these players."
Ferdinand, the England captain, insisted he had no concerns about Capello being forced to throw youngsters in as injuries mount up.
"It's fantastic," said the Manchester United defender. "There's nothing better than seeing a young lad get his first cap, go out here, and lap it all up.
"We've got full confidence in them and will back them to the hilt.
