  • Interesting Memory-Lane game last night

on TV. Old game from September 1994 at Wembley showed how England carved out a 2-nil win over the USA. Interesting to see the the passing skills of John Barnes, even at that twilight age. Two nice goals from Shearer did the job for England.

Brad Friedel, Alexi Lalas & Thomas Dooley looked ...somewhat okay.

    The teams were as follows:

ENG – David Seaman, Rob Jones, Graeme Le-Saux, Barry Venison, Tony Adams, Gary Pallister, David Platt (capt.), Darren Anderton, Alan Shearer (Ian Wright 80), Teddy Sheringham (Les Ferdinand 80), John Barnes

USA – Brad Friedel (Jurgen Sommer 81); Jeff Agoos (Mike Lapper 70), Marcelo Balboa, Alexi Lalas, Paul Caligiuri; Thomas Dooley, Mike Sorber, Claudio Reyna (Joe-Max Moore 81), Cobi Jones, Earnie Stewart (Frank Klopas 81); Hugo Perez (Eric Wynalda 46)

Tom Dooley was a pretty good player....

I also watched (last night) the game between England and Scotland--played in '79.

The English currently stopped the rivalry-- because they claim the Scots don't behave before during and after the games.

Of course the Scots have a different argument.
