<H4>Fifa president Sepp Blatter has apologised for not personally presenting the World Cup to Italy after their success in Berlin last year.</H4>

Blatter said that "history will say it was an error" that the president of Fifa was not the one to hand over the trophy.

He said he had apologised to Italy's political and sporting authorities immediately after the final.

Blatter's absence was widely condemned in Italy as a snub, possibly linked to the match-fixing scandal which had been runmling on in the months preceding the final.

Blatter claimed he had shunned the presentation ceremony because he was afraid of being jeered by spectators.

If you are the president of footballwhy should you acknowledge the Dark (actually blue) force of anti-football.

Doesn't it seem like the whole world is trying very hard not to acknowledge the win. After Italy took the cup every one went quiet - almost like a World Cup wasn't played in 2006.

Chelsea aren't anti football they are just not inspiring. Unlike Italy I dont dislike them I just cant see why anyone roots for them post 1990s. The most negative part of Jose's plan is his midfield but in truth Essien and the tripod marshall the middle with brilliant industry rather than tripping and grabbing and diving and lying (Well Essien anyway).
