  • Spain's detractors have pointed

to the (low) number of goals scored by the "rojas"... It is a justifiable criticism as most people want to see goals... at the same time I see football as a game of both offense and defense and if defense can trump offense so be it.

Is it that Spain's opponents were so in awe of their ability they defended with zeal? or do they (Spain) lack penetrative power?

The Golden Ball should have been awarded to a defensive player with all due respect to Forlan for whom I am happy.

when spain plays and the way they play EVERYONE knows that a goal is inevitable PLUS teams adopt an ultradefensive stand against them including germany and not to mention the hatchet job that the netherlands tried.....

santo iker is something else altogether, impressive beyond words.

"hatchet job" Oh come on now! Aren't we suppose to learn from the mistakes of others? The Germans backed off Spain, therefore the Dutch realized that wasn't an option. Tackling is apart of football unless something change. Yes, De Jong should have been red carded, but it is sounding as if ppl wanted the Dutch to allow Spain to have their way.

The Spanish had a plan to stop Robben and at times he was fouled, suh why is it a hatchet job when the Dutch does it?

arjen "the seal" robben? the diver and crybaby?

fouls happen in football and shoulder to shoulder is always 50/50 in my book. is who nearly bruk iniesta foot?

the dutch were more physical and brutal in the final than the whole tourney..it was obvious. just the way they played showed that they thought (knew) spain was the better team, a concession that they could not match them player for player skill for skill.

as for de jong...that was BEYOND disgraceful.

Big improvement over the shop keeping performance in the SFs.
