i would say a bigger win for the football purists... the new football converts still wold like to see more goals... spain does not score a lot of goals, but they control the game with skill, passing and off the ball movement... the way brazil used to play...'to get what we've never had, we MUST do what we've never done'

I think its more a case of tha better team on tha day won. Not taking anything away from tha Spanish, but Germany has too much talent in their squad to play as awful offensively as they did today. On another day Spain gets routed like England, Argentina and Australia.

The real story is that the German players are young and were dazzled by an entire team of brilliant Spanish stars who shine throughtout the entire Champions League. It was a mental thing! They knew that they were boys playing against men. They did not believe as they had before in the tournament that the sum of their non-star squad was greater than the sum of all other teams."Jah Jah see dem a come, but I & I a Conqueror!"

Fact is, German did play too deep and gave the Spanish time to build their confidence... and thus their counters were from too deep to be effective.Peter R

Germany didnt believe they could. Fact is too that Germany knew that the Spanish team had excellent touch and passing and had Germany opened up too early it could have been six to eight goals for Spain."Jah Jah see dem a come, but I & I a Conqueror!"

Initially I thought the Spanish were playing into the Germans hands with all the passing and no real penetration... but then Germany gave them the room to bring the ball right into the box too often.
Anyway, no sauerkraiut for me tonight and although I like Wiener schnitzel...
