From what I know, if the player's hand and arms is against the front of his body, it's no call, play on.
If the players arm is extended from his body, it is a violation and a free kick. If the referee feels the act was intentional, it is a yellow or a red card.

Just read the rules...play is only stopped for intentional handling of the ball...ball kicked to hand is play on...cards only come into play if it is a blatant & deliberate handball to prevent an opponent gaining possession or an attempt to score a goal by deliberately handling the ball...positioning of hand/arm is irrelevant...
