Making a back. They too often rule incorrectly when a defender climbs on the back of a forward. Too often they rule it as the forward backing in.

Karl buy yourself a rules book or better go to the FIFA website, doesn't it strike you as funny that ALL the refs call that pay the same way...think about it..Solidarity is not a matter of well wishing, but is sharing the very same fate whether in victory or in death.

There is no rule that says the player nearest the ball must move out of the way.
You are suggesting that a player standing on the field with his eyes closed who has a ball passed over his head, if he remains in that position and does not move a muscle and the defending player barges into him that motionless player commits a foul.
Well I am seeing players standing motionless and with a ball falling towards their chests being penalised when players behind them barges into them. That is nonsense! ...just as it would be nonsense if they were standing in the same spot and ball was falling on their feet, head or wherever and a player barges into them from behind.
It is the player barging into them from behind who commits the foul.
...a completely different thing if the players from behind had taken up their positions such that the ball would have fallen on them and the forwards backed into them in an attempt to move the defender backwards (out of the way) so as to claim the position and the thus the ball.
...you just cannot move a player out of the way to claim that player's position so as to get to the ball. ...if that were the case there would be players all over the field pushing slower players over...
...or pushing players out of the way who have arrived at a position from which to play the ball earlier. Nutten nuh guh suh! It is the person doing the pushing or barging that has committed the foul.
btw - Exile: A player cannot be deemed to be "not making an attempt to play the ball" if that ball's trajectory says it would have fallen on him.
Hey...it is perfectly legal for a player to remain motionless and allow the ball to "fall" on him. That is certainly not considered "making no attempt to play the ball".Last edited by Karl; June 17, 2010, 08:39 PM."Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Karl in some instances the offensive player does not attack the ball but instead tries to shield the defender...if the defender is going up to attack the ball and the offensive player is bodying him out that is a foul on the offensive player

...and by the way it is never legal to 'shield' another player. You 'shield' the ball!Last edited by Karl; June 17, 2010, 11:57 PM."Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

I have no time to read your diatribe but try and think for a while if ALL the refs make the same call what does that say to you...that they are all wrong all the times- cant be.
I have seen this call made at all levels of football for years and it is the same principle as giving back the ball to the team if some one gets oinjured and the ball is kicked off the field.
The man in the air is defenseless and if you were to move away suddenly he would fall and could hurt himself...what is so hard about that Karl?Solidarity is not a matter of well wishing, but is sharing the very same fate whether in victory or in death.

If that is the way it is being called it is for the technical members of both teams and the players to adapt.
The matter of players 'establishing position' under the ball and being bowled over or climbed over by opponents and losing the call is nonsense.
...do not tell me nonsense about a player who first establishes position being condemned to being called for a foul when he did nothing more than wait on a ball to come down or to reach him.
Funnily the refs call fouls on the defenders when the same thing happens when the ball is at ground level?
...just think of that a foul against the defenders when the ball gets to the players along the ground...but not when the ball travels at chest level or head level a foul against the forwards? Surely it cannot be how high the ball approaches the forward that is the determinant on foul or no foul assessed on the forward or defender?Last edited by Karl; June 18, 2010, 12:20 AM."Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. So we just saw (66 min. SLN vs USA) Goog going over and through the back of an opponent and the ref actually gave the karrect decision - to Slovania! ...so this nonsense bout all the refs calling it for the defender (against the attacker) is bunk!"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.
