Interrupted because of a malaria outbreak in sections of the island for the past two weeks, the Wray & Nephew National Premier League (NPL) resumes this afternoon with two rescheduled games.
League leaders Waterhouse, with 29 points, will play away to fourth-placed Portmore United (22) at Ferdie Nieta Park, while third-placed Harbour View, on 24, entertain sixth-placed Arnett Gardens (19) at the Compound.
Both games were postponed due to Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship commitments by Harbour View and Waterhouse.
The 'Stars of the East' hosted and topped Group 'A' of the quarter-final round of that competition on the weekend of December 3 to advance to the semi-final round, while Waterhouse staged Group 'B' the following weekend, but failed to progress to the last four.
Lingering 10 points behind table-toppers Waterhouse, Arnett - with two games in hand - will be looking for revenge against Harbour View, who beat them 2-1 in their first-round encounter at the Tony Spaulding Sports Complex.
The first end-of-round champions will have other ideas, however, as they seek maximum points to move to 27 points and replace the resurgent Reno in second place.
Waterhouse will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run in the league after two below-par performances in the CFU Club Championship, where they lost 2-0 to Haitian side Baltimore Sportif and drew 1-1 with Deportive Banda Abou of Curacao.
"We're definitely looking to get back on winning ways," Waterhouse coach Barrington Gaynor told the Observer yesterday.
"We know it's going to be a tough game against Portmore, seeing that they're a disciplined team, but we're still looking to win or if we get a point away (at Ferdie Neita Park) we will be satisfied," he said.
Portmore will be without three key players - Demar Stewart, Jason Morrison and Rafe Wolfe - who are away on trial with English Premier League side Sheffield United.
But despite their absence, coach Paul Young believes his team still has the ammunition to get the better of the league leaders.
"Both teams usually bring the best out of each other, however, I think they (Waterhouse) are at a stage now where they are a little bit vulnerable," Young said.
Today's schedule:
3:00 pm - Portmore United vs Waterhouse at Ferdie Neita Park (Referee: Courtney Campbell)
7:00 pm - Harbour View vs Arnett Gardens at Harbour View Mini Stadium (Howard Stennett)
