  • U.S. coach Bradley names squad for winter camp

Donovan, Dempsey and Twellman picked for Bradley's first camp

Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey and Taylor Twellman highlight a mostly inexperienced group of 29 players interim U.S. soccer coach Bob Bradley selected Tuesday for his first training camp.

Defender Heath Pearce of Denmark's Nordsjaelland was the only European-based player selected for the camp, which opens Jan. 4 in Carson, Calif. The Americans meet Denmark on Jan. 20 at Carson in their first game since the World Cup, then play Mexico on Feb. 7 at Glendale, Ariz.

Twenty-two players have five or fewer appearances for the national team, including 10 who have never appeared. Freddy Adu was not selected -- he will be training in Florida with the U.S. under-20 team.

Bradley has been told he will coach the team through May, but has no guarantees he will keep the job beyond that.

    The roster:

Goalkeepers: Joe Cannon (Los Angeles), Brad Guzan (Chivas USA), Troy Perkins (D.C. United), Matt Reis (New England)

Defenders: Chris Albright (Los Angeles), Bobby Boswell (D.C. United), Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City), Bryan Namoff (D.C. United), Michael Parkhurst (New England), Heath Pearce (FC Nordsjaelland), Dasan Robinson (Chicago) Eddie Robinson (Houston)

Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Colorado), Brian Carroll (D.C. United), Ricardo Clark (Houston), Clint Dempsey (New England), Joshua Gros (D.C. United), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA), Justin Mapp (Chicago), Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado), Brian Mullan (Houston), Pat Noonan (New England)

Forwards: Kenny Cooper (Dallas), Alecko Eskandarian (D.C. United), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles), Nate Jaqua (Los Angeles), Chris Rolfe (Chicago), Taylor Twellman (New England)

"Donovan was excellent. We knew he was a good player, but he really didn't do anything wrong in the whole game and made it difficult for us."

Well, the situation has officially been resolved, as NYRB left back Dunivant gets called up.

Ed Johnson also called to replace still not fit Twellman.
